Dato’ Ir Hj Zulakmal Bin Sufian, the Deputy Director-General of the PWD Malaysia, has worked at the PWD for 35 years. He has published more than 50 papers and co-authored more than ten road specifications and guidelines for the PWD and the Road Engineering Association of Malaysia. He was a member of PIARC Committee D2 (Flexible and Semi-Rigid Pavements) Working Committee from 2009 to 2012 and a member of PIARC Committee TC 1.3 (Climate Change) from 2012 to 2015. He is currently a member of PIARC Committee TC D.1 (Asset Management).
He was the Honorary Secretary-General of REAAA from 2017 until 2021.
