Mr Yasumasa Torii graduated from Tokyo University in 1965 and obtained a master’s degree in 1967. He joined the Japan Highway Public Corporation (JHPC) in 1967 and served for 30 years as the Counsellor and Director General of Regional Construction Bureau, among others, before he joined Seikitokyu as Senior Director and Counsellor.
He has been devoted to research in the field of pavements, serving as the owner of REAAA Technical Sub-Committee TC-2 (Pavements) for two terms from 2009 to 2017. His contribution to REAAA spans more than 20 years. He was the Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee for the 10th REAAA Conference in Tokyo from 1999 until 2000. He was a member of the Governing Council from 2003-2013 representing the Express Highway Research Foundation (EHRF) and serving as Chairperson of the Katahira Fund Committee. He currently serves as Advisor to the Technical Sub-Committee on Pavement Technology. He has been Co-Opted Member of REAAA since 2017. He is also an Honorary member of REAAA in 2021.
