10th HORA Meeting (2011), Jakarta, Indonesia

The 10th HORA meeting was hosted by Indonesian Road Development Association (IRDA) and supported by the Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of Public Works, Republic of Indonesia.

An official invitation letter dated 14th September 2011, signed by the REAAA Honorary-Secretary-General, Dato Haji Ir Hamizan Mohd Inzan was sent out to member countries.

The objective of the 10th HORA meeting is to adopt the final draft of “Compendium Road Safety- Make it Happen” which has been discusses at the HORA Workshop in Taipei, Taiwan on April 2011. This is follow- up with the outcomes of the 9th HORA meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in April 2010. As the result, the meeting agreed on the establishment of an Advisory Panel that will assist in the preparation of the “Compendium Road Safety- Make it Happen”.

42 delegates from 9 countries attended the 10th HORA meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 9 countries are: Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.

The distinguished guests were The Vice Minister for Ministry of Public Works Indonesia, Dr. A. Hermanto Dardak and The Undersecretary of Public Works and Highway Department, Philippines, Mr. Jaime A. Pacanan.

The President, Dato’ Sri Ir. Dr. Judin Abdul Karim who chaired the session, extended a very warm welcome to all the distinguished guests and HORA delegates in his opening remarks. He was happy to note that Heads of Road Authorities and more than forty-two delegates from nine countries across Asia, Australasia and the Pacific Region attended the 10th meeting of HORA. He expressed his appreciation for the strenuous efforts of the REAAA and members. He hoped that the HORA meeting will make a considerable contribution to enable many countries to experience mutual growth and to form a cooperative atmosphere beyond the road sector. He attributed the success of this HORA meeting to the strong support given by the heads of road authorities in this region.
